An epic guest and a birthday celebration marked Grill The Marketer's 7th birthday this July
Joining us as our guest for the July Grill event was Luke Whelan, Co-founder of lifestyle publication Perth is OK! and social agency, Social Meteor.
Luke spoke of his squiggly journey from dropout to nightclub promoter - and all the trials and test along the way, to being named Business News' 40 Under 40 earlier in the year.
He was pretty reserved about awards in general though, as some of the discussion outined.
Covering topics from social media trends (don't sleep on LinkedIn!), content production and moderation, to career advice and how to bounce back from inevitable challenges - Luke was a candid and enthusiastic guest, answering attendees questions with more warmth than ego.
He also bought some cool swag in the form of beach-ready tote bags, which were a bit of a hit.
Laughs, pizza, cake, and a little profanity - a birthday celebrated in true Grill The Marketer style.
Afterwards, Luke spoke of his experience as a guest:
I had an absolute blast on the hotplate at Grill The Marketer. The informal, Q&A format really suited my style and led to an open, honest conversation which I think resonated well and felt refreshing compared to the stuffy 'sales presentation' a lot of events in this space end up being."
